For the final meeting of this academic year, Narnia Book Club (year 4) gathered around the orange table to discuss Lissa Evans Small Change for Stuart. Rife with mayhem, magic and mystery, Small Change for Stuart is a genuinely fun and engaging novel, which will leave you gasping for the second instalment, Big Change for Stuart.
The Snow Spider takes inspiration from Welsh folklore and it tells the story of Gwyn a young boy who on his 9th birthday is told by his grandmother that he may be a magician, like his Welsh ancestors. She gives him five gifts to help him–a brooch, a piece of dried seaweed, a tin whistle, a scarf, and a broken toy horse.
On Thursday 2nd of February the Narnia Book Club at Ottie and the Bea were lucky enough to have a chat over Skype with Kara LaReau; she is the author of one of our favourite reads from last year- The Unintentional Adventures of the Bland Sisters, The Booty Myth from Abrams Publishing. Despite being over 3,300 miles apart, and five hours behind us in Providence, Rhode Island Kara took time to answer some of the questions our book club had.
